I counted up how many foreign holidays I had and it’s 108 in 10 years. How is this possible or affordable? Well, with 30 days work leave and 10 public holidays and with a focus around weekend breaks it is very possible. Thats nearly 4 days leave a month. Also Easter and May are great times to go if you build in leave with public holidays. A couple of days round a bank holiday weekend means cheaper flights and maybe a 5 day break. At Easter 4 days leave (the 4 before good Friday or after Easter Monday give you 10 days away). A half day also offers opportunities as catching a flight at Thursday afternoon can mean dining out in Spain at night.
All this costs money but again choosing the right time means I pay between £20 and £50 return. Holidaying in winter says fuel costs and in December and January flights can be as low as £10 return. Accomodation in 2 star hotels, eating out at the cheaper lunchtimes, taking local buses instead of airport transfers cuts costs. Read elsewhere for the detail.
