We visit Gothenburg during its festival weekend. Ballet and carnival, street theater and symphony orchestra, cuisine and jazz, film and carousels, hip hop and dance bands, fairytale and circus, stand-up, and sculpture, design and poetry, museums and markets, world-class artists and local bands . Streets and squares turn into party places with 925,000 visitors in 2010 the Gothenburg Culture Festival one of the largest urban festivals. If raining the museum has the worlds only viking ship on display (£4 entry)

Friday 25 miles
06:20 departure arrives Gothenburg 09:05. Get airport bus into town which takes 30 minutes The journey costs 60 SEK for adults, one way, or 110 for return. Check out train station for bike travel.
Take bus 60 every 10 minutes towards Masthugget and get off at Oskar Fredriks Kyrka 11 minutes later. Leave bags at hostel. Pick up bike and cycle down coast to Kunksbacka from 12:00. 4 trains an hour back and £5.
At 17:00 ish we go to Stenpiren to see the Danish 18th century sailing ships for free. MIss Li concert (free) at 20:00 at Kungstorget. 22:00 Take part in the worlds fastest sing with 40 songs in an hour (words displayed on giant screen)
Stay in private room for 4 people in Backpackers Hostel for £69 for three nights. And £78 for twin room for snorers. Free wifi and kitchen for cheap food and drink.
Saturday 40 miles
Cycle east along country lanes to Alingsas. Possible Swedish beer wine buffet for £7 in Mangiamo. Three trains an hour back and takes 30 minutes. Costs between £5 and £9.
Sunday 30 miles
Circuit heading east , north, west along country lanes, with lunch in Harrys pizza place. Visit to Volvo museum (entry £5) and then back to backpackers aboiut 17:00. IFK Gothenburg play Gefle today at home at 19.00 – tickets £14.
22nd August – 12:00 be at station for bus to airport. Return on Ryanair flight 14:50 departure arrive 15:40. Morning shop?
