Day 1 Tuesday 17th May

White Lady for breakfast at 08:30. Meet at the airport at 10:30 in Sir Walter Scott. Fly to Carcassonne 12:35 to 16:00 for £35 return. Note – very small bag only that fits under the seat in front (40cm x 20cm x25cm). The bus to the train station takes 25 minutes. Train to Narbonne every half hour and takes 31 minutes and about €11

Stay in 2 bedroom 3 bed Les Chambres des Barques for £15 a night each in the centre of Narbonne. (3 nights). The accommodation is very central near the bike hire and close to the market Les Halles Narbonne.

Day 2 Wed Somail and Amphoralis (25 miles)

Rent a bike from which is €50 for three days.

A trip inland to the Roman Amphoralis museum and then onto the village of Somail on the river. Choice of two restaurants with menu du jour – L’o a la bouche or auberge du somail, both at €20

Day 3 Thu Gruissan (20 miles)

Cycleway to the beach where we eat in Le Cers beachside or somewhere close depending on what we see. Europa League Final at night.

Day 3 Fri Saint Lucia Island (30 miles)

A trip through the nature reserve where wild flamingoes fly. It’s 15 miles to Port-La-Nouvelle and 15 back. Shorter options are available today or the possibility of a train back. Train at 12:35 13:37 14:37 15:38 It’s 22 miles to Leucate-la-Franqui where there is also a train station to get back.

Return bikes and then take the train to Carcassonne. Visit Carcassone Castle, the inspiration for Disney films. Tonight we dine in the castle. We stay in Aude Cité-City.

Day 4 Sat 21st May

travel to Edinburgh. Two of us get the bus from the train station at 0835 arriving at 09:00 at the airport. (See Flight at 10:20 arriving in Edinburgh at 11:45. Scottish Cup Final at 15:00.
