Wimbledon Tennis

A cheap way of visiting Wimbledon is staying in Croydon with its many bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance and taking a tram to Wimbledon. The Premier Inn has accommodation for £60 a night and a tram stop nearby (George Street) that takes you straight to Wimbledon every 5 minutes and a shuttle bus operates from Wimbledon station or you can walk the mile to the All England courts.

Travel down Sunday 26th June at 10:00 arriving at 14:40 and back on Wednesday 29th June at 14:30 arriving at 19:11. About £105 return two people to Kings Cross. You then need to travel to East Croydon station. Walk from Kings Cross to St Pancras through the station ( underground walkway). Go to far north end of St Pancras to the Thameslink entrance. You go past lots of glass fronted shops. Ticket machines are just before the Thameslink entrance. Go downstairs (probably to platform A but check) . A Thameslink train runs every 10 minutes to East Croydon and takes 28 minutes.

It is then a short walk to the hotel at London Croydon Town Centre Hotel Premier Inn – £184 for 3 nights

Monday – The tram to Wimbledon leaves from George Street (not the one closer to the hotel) every 5 minutes. Coming back from Wimbledon you get off the tram at Wellesley Road, closer to the hotel.
